And now we’re rewriting
We got our editor’s comments back and we need a new beginning. Major revision of the first act. Mostly my stuff (ARGH) but three new scenes up front.
I think it’s nice that we’re posting all the revisions. You can see how we pounded our heads on our keyboards AS IT HAPPENS.

Oh, no! After all that work, too.
But it’s SO worth it. As a reader, I had a difficult time liking some of the heroines until this last draft- motivations seemed shaky and didn’t ring true. Now I can’t wait until D&G is published so I can devour it! I’m sure whatever revisions you girls will do will make the book all that much better- although it’s pretty damn good now.
I really like this last draft too; things just seemed much clearer to me. But the next one will be fantastic I’m sure!
Wow - it has to be EVEN BETTER? When I think of the junk that gets published, obviously you have a demanding editor! But we certainly like the results.
I think it’s nice that you’re posting the revisions too. Watching the process is fascinating. It’s very generous of you three.
We have a great editor who has a great eye. Mostly, she’s worried about clarity, so . . . new beginning. She did say the ending was perfect, so that’s good.
Sheesh. When I think of some of the books I’ve read - and by some pretty big names - which didn’t flow as well as the beta draft of D&G… How do people get away with it?
Speaking of demanding & great editors - Jen Enderlin is y’alls is she not? She seems to be a purveyor of true excellence. (Yes thats a compliment to y’all)
I’m with Strop and Diane. “Yeah!” for literate editors. Although, really, I loved the latest draft. But if she thinks it could be better…
Don’t know if it’s appropriate to say this here, but just want to give a big shout out to Anne for her Rita final in romantic suspense: Ice Blue. I read that book on the trip downunder for last year’s Aussie National conference. Congrats! Anne. Great book. Fab-u-lous news!
Keep up the good work with Dogs and Goddesses you three. I pop over every now and then for an update and always enjoy them. I seldom comment ’cause I think it would be overkill to comment on Aargh Ink and on Cherry Forums, then here too. Heh. One of these days I swear I’m getting a life.
There really wasn’t enough in the first chapter to get attached to the characters. You’ll add, subtract (multiply?), and it will be great. Looking forward and wishing you happy and productive rewriting
So, any clues about how things have changed now that the rewriting is over?
Jenny?
Lani?
Krissie?
Sigh.
