Day Two (the real one)

[Note from Jenny: This was supposed to be up yesterday. Sorry.]

We rolled out of bed late and Jenny made us poached eggs and English muffins, and then we sat down to work, reviewing the outline of Act One and trying to figure out Where We Went Wrong. We’re shifting the order of the first few scenes, and I had an epiphany. I’d written my original cute meet just to jump into the project (since I joined months after Lani and Jenny had begun) and I’d been rewriting it ever since.

And this morning I mentioned how I wasn’t wedded to it, and by letting go of the original conflict a whole new side of Abby (my character) opened up. Everything is different now — instead of having a negative goal she’s working for something positive, and it opens up so much rich, juicy stuff that I don’t even mind having to rewrite for the 237th time.

Feeling self-righteous (we worked, we worked) we went out for microphones for the podcast, fedex, Steak and Shake (don’t let Krissie drink milk products), Sam’s Club (where Krissie got lost in the bathroom and Jenny bought a chicken the size of Lani) and then ended up at the divine Hobby Lobby. And now we’re back in the magic house, having done the podcast with much hilarity ensuing. I’m a little afraid the two of them are going to make me work some more tonight — at this point we’re waiting for Jenny to write the new opening and then we’ll join in.

In the meantime we’re sitting in the living room while Jenny weaves yarn into a newly-crocheted scarf, Lani edits the podcast (avoid Toasted Head wine at all costs) and I’m being seduced by eBay again.

Tomorrow we work some more and do an official booksigning for Lani’s fabulous new book, A LITTLE RAY OF SUNSHINE (oh, we went to visit it in Target and found it almost sold out, so Jenny took a picture with her iPhone to commemorate it.)

LaniTarget

And then more work. No rest for the wicked, I tell you.

The podcast was hilarious and very well done! (As they always are.)

Lani lookit you with your one single lonely book left… they need to order another gazillion and get those inches filled darn it. No rest for the wicked indeed.

Things are really moving now… Any guesses as to how long it will be before we see D&Gs on the shelves? :)

It sounds as if you’re being very productive in a wonderfully rewarding way!

Nice to have positive goals. I should get me some of those. Hobby Lobby, you say? Or Target?

Little Ray of Sunshine. Read it with a box of kleenex. And block out some time. You won’t want to stop reading.
